Postdoctoral Fellow

Lauren Hammer, MD, PhD is a neurologist and movement disorders fellow at the UCSF Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation Center. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University and subsequently completed her neurology residency at the Mass General Brigham program of Harvard Medical School. She also holds a graduate degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, where she developed expertise in neural interfaces, bioelectric signal processing, and machine learning. Dr. Hammer’s current research interests include the development of adaptive / closed-loop deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems. She is also interested in the use of sensing-capable DBS devices to better understand the neurophysiology underlying movement disorders, with the goal of ultimately informing the improvement and future development of neuromodulation technologies.
