Maria Olaru, BS

Ph.D. Candidate in Neuroscience

Maria Olaru is a PhD candidate in the Starr lab, where she studies the movement circuit of patients with Parkinson's Disease using implanted neurostimulators. Her research interests include investigating biomarkers for motor states using neural and wearable sensors, developing BCI feedback algorithms that optimize neural entrainment throughout the neurostimulator parameter space, and modeling these experimental phenomena.

In her spare time, she enjoys experimenting with NYT cooking recipes, long-distance running, and the occasional outdoor climbing adventure. Throughout her academic career, she's also developed a deep appreciation for comprehensive documentation and complete sentences.
