Clay Smyth, BS

Ph.D. Student in Biomedical Engineering

Clay Smyth graduated with a B.S.in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley with a concentration in synthetic biology. After conducting research in neural interfaces for a few years, he decided to enroll in the joint Bioengineering program at UC Berkeley and UCSF to pursue research in clinical neuromodulation. Clay is interested in expanding the functionality of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and exploring mechanisms by which DBS may have lasting effects in the brain.
