Jiaang Yao, MS

Ph.D. Student in Bioengineering

Jiaang Yao is a Ph.D. student in the UC Berkeley-UCSF Graduate Program in Bioengineering. Originally
from Shenzhen, China, Jiaang finished his B.A. degree in Biology, Mathematics, and Neuroscience at
Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, before moving to New York City to obtain his B.S. and M.S.
degrees both in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. His research interests include
understanding the brain using advanced computational techniques and using those newly gained
insights to design novel control algorithms for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).
