Stephanie Cernera, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Stephanie Cernera is a postdoc in the Starr Lab at UCSF. She received her B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University and her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida (UF). Her dissertation focused on developing closed-loop deep brain stimulation (DBS) strategies using wearable sensors in patients with essential tremor. Currently, she is developing adaptive DBS protocols using either subcortical or cortical local field potentials in patients with Parkinson’s disease and dystonia, while investigating ways to decode chronic, naturalistic neural data using multimodal signal acquisition.
